Worthington recalls meatless corn dogs

(March 14, 2001 --Cropchoice news)-- Worthington Food Inc., a subsidiary of the Kellogg Co., recalled its meatless corn dogs after company tests confirmed that some of them contained StarLink. The transgenic corn variety doesn't have approval for human consumption because of concerns that it may be allergenic in humans.

The company's action comes less than a week after Greenpeace announced that tests it had commissioned revealed the transgenic corn in the Worthington products.

The recall includes corn dogs sold under the names Morningstar Farms, Loma Linda and Natural Touch. Consumers may call the company toll-free at (877) 924-4247.
