Norway finding plenty of non-gmo beans in Brazil

(Jan. 8, 2002 -- CropChoice news) -- Norway continues to disallow imports of transgenic soybeans and is instead buying non-transgenic varieties from Brazil, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Denofa, Norway's only crusher, is crushing 30 percent more beans than before and is expanding its customer base. The U.S, which previously enjoyed a 60 percent share of the Norwegian market for soybeans, is currently losing out on potential annual sales of an estimated $80 million.
