Brazil increases soybean productivity without transgenics (Oct. 9, 2001 -- CropChoice news) -- Brazilian soybean productivity this year (average of 2,708 kilograms per hectare) has surpassed that of the United States (2,594 kilograms per hectare). And it's been done without the use of genetically engineered varieties, which Brazil disallows. In the past 30 years, such productivity has moved Brazil into second place behind the United States in terms of overall soybean production.
