Europe turns to lupins as possible means of avoiding GMO protein sources

(March 22, 2002 CropChoice news) Scottish farmers will be joining their counterparts on the Continent this season by sowing lupins.

These nitrogen fixing plants yield 1.5 to 2 tons per acre, and with Europe looking for non-transgenic feed for livestock, lupins high in protein and oil could replace soy, much of which is genetically engineered.
